Lot 73
BRUTTIUM. Breig…. Circa 340-320 BC. Dichalkon (?) (Bronze, 12 mm, 2.34 g, 3 h), struck at Metapontion (?). K-A Head of a stag to right. Rev. [B]ΡΕΙ[Γ] Plow; to right, monogram. Attianese 1. HN Italy -. NAC 8 (1995), 451. Very rare. Light deposits, otherwise, good very fine.

Ex Gorny & Mosch 122, 10 March 2003, 1083.

This enigmatic issue was likely struck in Metapontion for a nearby settlement of the Brettii. The river-god's name on the larger issues (see lot 72 above), which appears to read Traes, refers to the Trionto river, indicating that Breig... was located somewhere in the stream's vicinity.
